Rublovskoye Chausse, Moscow, Russia – Tuesday 24 November 2020–One of the qualities of a good leader is to strengthen bilateral relations with other countries in the world, especially when you mean well and believe in improving the lives of your citizens.
This is what exactly President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone is doing. During his official visit to Russia one year ago, he met with investors who were looking for opportunities to invest in Africa. This came into fruition because he was able to lure investors in the Oil Industry, Trade, Electricity and Power Supply, Fishing, Military Academy etc, to invest in his country.
Ambassador Mohamed Yongowa has been the President’s representative in the Russian Federation and he’s working day and night to see that President Bio’s New Direction Agenda is bought by the business community in Russia.
In that regard, Fifty out of Two Hundred Dump Trucks which the Government of Russia had earlier promised to donate to the Government of Sierra Leone finally arrived in Freetown last Friday and Ambassador Yongawo, together with Experts from Russia, is in the country to do the official handing over to the Government and People of Sierra Leone.
The Manufacturers have been in the country for the past week. They met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Local Government and Rural Development as well as the Director-General of the Road Transport Corporation among other officials.
During President Julius Maada Bio’s visit to Russia to attend the Russia-Africa Summit, the Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to donate 200 Garbage Trucks to the Government of Sierra Leone as part of their contribution to the Waste Management sector.
GAZ Manufacturing Group delegation is headed by Lobanov Mikhail. The Team got a warm reception from all line Ministries and Agencies.
These Garbage Trucks will create jobs for over 200 Sierra Leonean youths including drivers. Also, the Russian Government has requested Sierra Leone to send competent Sierra Leoneans to Moscow for technical training on how to repair the trucks.
