Fire Outbreak at Mount Aureol Over 100 People Homeless


The fire outbreak in the evening hours of June 28th 2021, at the mountainous vicinity of Mount Aureol have left over one hundred people homeless.

According to a victim, Osman Bangurathe fire incident occurred at a time when most of them were not around. As a result of that, he said that the fire wrecked more havocs on their properties. He added that the fire incident destroyed properties worth billions of leones. He went on to say that they are delighted that there is no death occurred. He said that what exacerbated the issue is the poor road network, which he said prevented the timely intervention of the fire force from putting out the fire. He added that despite the rain in the morning hours of July 1, 2021, another fire outbreak occurred again in the same vicinity but was discourage from spreading through the help of neighbors.

He went on to say that the affected side is situated at the Hill Top of Grant Street off Mount Cut in an area commonly known as SURFFER LINE. He called for humanitarian support.
