The Local Unit Commander of Waterloo Police Division, CSP Mr. Ibrahim M Sama, in the evening hours on Friday the 6th of October, 2023, held an exclusive interview at the SLP Community Peace Radio 91.1 in King Tom, Freetown, moderated by the Head of Media and Public Relations of the Sierra Leone Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Brima Kamara popularly called Media 1.

During the hour-long radio interview, CSP Mr. Ibrahim M Sama commended the wisdom of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, for the confidence he reposed by elevating him to the position of Local Unit Commander of Waterloo.

Recruited in the rank of Constable in 2001, CSP Mr. Ibrahim M Sama, in chronological order recounted his illustrious 22-year journey with the Sierra Leone Police wherein he worked in various Police Divisions, Stations, Departments, and Units countrywide culminating in his deployment as an Individual Police Officer Peace Keeper with the United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in 2010 where he held the position of Formed Police Unit (FPU) Coordinator, a Principal position meant for the rank of not less than an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

“……since taking up office as LUC of Waterloo, we have succeeded in fighting crime to the barest minimum. We have arrested and successfully prosecuted hardcore criminals like the fugitive White Boy of Jorpoh Farm, Ibrahim Kalokoh of 4 Mile who murdered lecturer Kabba Santigi Bangura of the Geography Department of Fourah Bay College, Witch-doctor John Conteh alias Sharia Law of 5 Mile Village who was arrested with a human skull together with two guns, we have demolished hundreds of ghettos and prosecuted thousands of drug peddlers and abusers, we have decongested places notorious for street trading, we have rescued people who were forcefully captured for initiation into both male and female secret societies, we have arrested Almamy Kargbo alias Shakur a notorious armed robber with a fully loaded pistol. In short, we have achieved unprecedented successes in law enforcement and security management in Waterloo under my leadership”, he explained with his trademark broad smile.

On his part, the Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB) Chairman, Mr. Edward Buba Sesay, commended the leadership style of CSP Mr. Ibrahim M Sama which he said has led to the many successes the Waterloo Police has achieved in recent times. Thus, he remarked that “when the leader is up to the task, great things happen”.

Personnel welfare, discipline, administration, community policing, intelligence gathering, operations, investigations, etc. formed parts of the hour-long radio discussions.
