A FIFA representative at the SLFA Congress has warned members of the Football Association to conduct themselves peacefully during the ongoing Congress, to avoid harsh sanctions from FIFA against the West Africa country.
The warning followed a serious confrontation regarding the appointment of scrutineers for the Congress. Scrutineers are responsible for scrutinizing the activities and proceedings during the Congress.
Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, Director of Competitions and Club Licensing at the FA; Marian Heroe, another SLFA staff member; and David Turner, Press Secretary to the SLFA President, were all appointed as scrutineers. However, their appointments were met with opposition from some members, while others supported them.
This disagreement led to a confrontation that required the intervention of the police and the FIFA representative, who addressed the delegates.
According to the FIFA representative, if this Congress is aborted like the previous one, FIFA will have no choice but to take action against Sierra Leone; a decision that would not be favorable.
In the end, David Turner was accepted as one of the scrutineers, and the Congress has since progressed.
