Freetown, Sierra Leone – Leading telecommunications company Africell Sierra Leone, through its mobile money platform Afrimoney, took center stage in the recently concluded 12th edition of the Street Child Marathon, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to social impact and community development.
The event, which brought together hundreds of runners and supporters from across the country and beyond, focused on raising awareness and funds for the welfare and education of street-connected children. Africell, a long-time partner of the initiative, once again demonstrated leadership in corporate social responsibility by actively participating and sponsoring the marathon.
“We are proud to support this incredible cause year after year,” Africell stated in a release. “Walking and running alongside our fellow citizens for a better future is part of our belief in empowering communities and transforming lives.”
Employees of Africell and Afrimoney participated in large numbers, donning branded gear and joining the various race categories including the 5K, 10K, and full marathon. The company also used the occasion to engage with participants and promote its services in a spirited, community-focused atmosphere.
Organizers of the Street Child Marathon praised Africell for its consistent partnership, noting that the success of the event owes much to the steadfast backing of sponsors like them. “Africell has remained a pillar of support, helping us grow this marathon into a nationwide movement for change,” one organizer said.
The marathon ended on a high note, with heartfelt moments, powerful testimonies, and images that captured the unity and determination of all involved.
