Telecommunications giant Africell has launched a groundbreaking health and wellness program dubbed the “Wel Body” Initiative, aimed at promoting healthy living and preventive healthcare among its employees.
The launch coincided with Africell Health Awareness Day 2025, during which staff received free medical screenings for HIV, Hepatitis, Blood Pressure, and Blood Sugar levels. The initiative underscores Africell’s growing focus on the physical and mental wellbeing of its workforce.
Dr. Samba Jalloh, Vice President of the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association, commended Africell for what he described as a forward-thinking and impactful initiative.
“This program represents a lifelong investment in the health and productivity of Africell’s employees,” Dr. Jalloh said. “Regular medical check-ups and awareness are essential in preventing chronic diseases and ensuring long-term wellbeing.”
Mrs. Fobay Jusu, Africell’s Human Resources Manager, said the company views the health of its employees as central to its success.
“At Africell, we believe that a healthy team is a productive team,” Mrs. Jusu stated. “The ‘Wel Body’ initiative demonstrates our commitment to creating a workplace where staff have access to essential health services and accurate information to make informed lifestyle choices.”
The Africell Health Awareness Day also featured wellness talks, fitness tips, and educational sessions on preventive health, stress management, and nutrition. The initiative reflects Africell’s broader mission to foster a culture of care, balance, and wellbeing across its organization.
With the “Wel Body” initiative, Africell continues to set the standard for employee-centered corporate culture in Sierra Leone, combining productivity with compassion and wellness.
