Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to community engagement by supporting thousands of Muslims across Sierra Leone during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations on March 20, 2026.
As worshippers gathered at various prayer grounds nationwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the company distributed thousands of bottles of water and date palm fruits, and provided sound systems to enhance the prayer experience.
The initiative forms part of Africell’s broader Ramadan support programme aimed at fostering unity, compassion, and goodwill within communities.
Speaking on the initiative, the company’s Senior Event and Sponsorship Manager, Nancy Toure, underscored Africell’s commitment to giving back, particularly during significant religious observances.
“Throughout the month of Ramadan, we have supported our Muslim brothers and sisters through rice distribution and a special Ramadan television programme. As we conclude the holy month, it is important to continue this support during such a meaningful moment of prayer,” she said.
She added that Africell’s commitment extends beyond business operations, reflecting a strong connection with the communities it serves.
“While we are a business entity, we believe in building meaningful relationships and giving back to the community. This is something we take pride in, and we will continue to support impactful initiatives whenever possible,” she noted.
The gesture was welcomed by members of the Muslim community, many of whom expressed appreciation for the support. Some also called on other corporate institutions to emulate Africell’s example in promoting inclusivity and social responsibility.
Africell continues to strengthen its corporate social responsibility profile through people-centred initiatives that support both its customers and the wider community.
