Africell Sierra Leone warmly welcomed home Sierra Leonean talent and international music producer Omar Elkan Agyei on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at its headquarters in Wilberforce. The return of the young producer marks a significant milestone celebrated by many across the country.
Omar Elkan is widely known for his creativity, discipline, and his unique fusion of African sounds with contemporary beats. Born to Sierra Leonean parents, he developed his musical style from experimenting with drums and digital beats during his youth, earning a respected place on the global music stage.
Africell Media Manager Abdul Karim Sesay expressed the company’s pride in hosting Elkan, emphasizing Africell’s commitment to nurturing young talent and creating platforms for creativity to flourish. He noted that Africell’s early association with Elkan provided a front-row seat to his growth and that his homecoming would bolster further collaboration.
Africell CEO Shadi Al Gerjawi welcomed Elkan warmly, recalling a personal story of how the producer gifted his children their first drum set, igniting their own musical passions. He highlighted that such encouragements often spark lifelong inspiration and underscored Africell’s pride in Elkan’s achievements, which serve as motivation for many aspiring creatives in Sierra Leone.
“Progress in the creative industry is about uplifting the entire ecosystem,” Al Gerjawi said. He expressed optimism that Elkan’s work would elevate Sierra Leonean music on the global stage, citing a recent electrifying moment at the Housemates Salone Season 4 eviction where a local track captivated the audience. The CEO entrusted Elkan with the responsibility of carrying Sierra Leone’s music forward with honor.
Elkan’s mother, Africell Customer Relations Director and Lead of the Africell Impact Foundation, Kippy Debs, spoke with pride about her son’s commitment and discipline. She recalled the countless nights he spent perfecting his craft and highlighted the foundation’s role in supporting creative talents across the country.
“Growth in the creative sector is possible here in Sierra Leone,” Debs affirmed, adding that investments in talent and personal dedication shape success stories like Elkan’s.
In his remarks, Omar Elkan expressed joy at returning home. He described Sierra Leone’s vibrant energy and rhythms as a constant inspiration, calling the city a place where even chaos turns into melody. He emphasized the importance of community and a sense of belonging, which has fueled his music journey.
Elkan announced the upcoming release of his new EP, Baby Bundle, set for 12 December 2025. The project, which reflects his seven-year journey as a producer and artist, features a standout track titled “Turn the Continent Up,” expected to make a significant impact globally.
Africell CEO Al Gerjawi also revealed that Elkan will perform his latest songs at the grand finale of Housemates Salone Season 4 on 21 December 2025.
