Abu Bakarr Kamara, a 41-year-old businessman, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Wednesday, 11th February 2026, facing a charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, sometime in 2024 at Brookfields, Western Area, Freetown, Kamara allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use a white Toyota 4Runner Jeep (registration number AGV 111), valued at USD 5,000 (Le 118,500), which had been entrusted to him by Odontola Mason for the operations of the Waterside Company.
When the charge was read and explained, no plea was taken. Prosecutor C.S.P Tommy B. Zizer served the defendant with the relevant documents, which he acknowledged.
Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and remanded Kamara to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to 25th February 2026 for further proceedings.
