A 27-year-old businessman, Amid Kargbo, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Adama Kandeh of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, on one count of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, the accused, on Saturday, 10th August 2025, at No. 3 Regent Street, Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of fifteen thousand new Leones (NLe 15,000) from one Prince Bangura by falsely pretending that he had clothing for sale, knowing the representation to be false.
When the charge was read and explained, no plea was taken from the accused.
Prosecution is led by Sergeant 1306 A.B. Sesay, while Defense Counsel F. Bangura appeared for the accused. Counsel for the defense requested a one-week adjournment to properly confer with his client.
Magistrate Kandeh granted the request and ordered that the accused be remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to 30th October 2025 for further proceedings.
