FREETOWN – A businesswoman, Mishella Koroma, has been remanded in custody after making her first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, June 30, 2025. She faces four counts related to unlawful drug possession and trafficking.
Koroma is charged under the National Drug Control Act of 2008 for:
1. Collecting a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 7(b)),
2. Dealing in a prohibited drug (Section 7(c)),
3. Transporting a prohibited drug (Section 7(b)), and
4. Possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 8(a)).
According to the prosecution, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Port Loko District, the accused allegedly collected, dealt, and transported two small parcels of cocaine without lawful authorization.
When the charges were read in court, no plea was taken.
Police Prosecutor DPC 18235 Kabbie K. Thoronka requested a short adjournment to prepare and present the first prosecution witness.
Defense Counsel C. Pujeh applied for bail, arguing that the accused is a resident within the court’s jurisdiction, has a fixed abode, reliable sureties, and poses no flight risk or threat to the prosecution’s case.
However, Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations. Koroma was remanded to the Female Correctional Facility in Freetown, pending further hearings.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, July 2, 2025, for continuation of the trial.
