CARETAKER SENT TO HIGH COURT OVER FRAUDULENT.CONVERSION CASE

Freetown, Sierra Leone, Foday Kanu a 24 years old Caretaker has been committed to the  High Court by Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on Monday, 27th July, 2026, on two count charges of Fraudulent conversion Contrary to section 20 (l)(iv) (6) of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Malicious damage – Contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act of 1816.

According to the police charge sheet that you on Wednessday, 25th March, 2026, at Bathole,Regent Village, freetown, in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, fraudulently converted to your own use or benefit of one Wrangler 4×4 Jeep and it switch key with registration number AXH 220 valued twenty five thousand united states dollar ($25,00) equivalent to six hundred thousand leones (Nle 6,000) entrested to you by Lamin Bonsur for the purpose of delivery to Emmanuel John.

Count two furthered that you on the same date and place above, maliciously damaged one Igition switch valued three thousand five hundred leone (Nle 3,000), two relay fuse each valued five hundred leones (Le 500) all valued one thousand leones (Nle 1,000) and one Motor starter valued one thousand five hundred leones (Nle 1,500) all to the total valued of six thousand leones (NLe 6,000) property of Kadijatu Jalloh.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendants, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K says the case is for the prosecution.

The defendant was not legally represented 

Meanwhile, magistrate Fornah stated that having gone through the entire evidence adduced by the prosecution in both factual and formal together with the exhibits tendered  and also having gone through the caution statement of the defendant he is now satisfied that the prosecution has adduced sufficient evidence connecting the defendant with the offences so charged to warrant a committal of the matter to the High Court.

Therefore, he hereby committed the defendant to stand his trial in the High Court
