Freetown, July 22, 2025 — A juvenile pupil, a businesswoman, and a trader were on Tuesday remanded at the Female and Juvenile Correctional Centre by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1, following their arraignment on charges of conspiracy and larceny involving over $10,600 USD.
The accused persons, Juliana Kamara (13), Mabinty Kamara (31), and Ramatu Kamara, were charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Larceny in a Dwelling House, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on a date unknown between August and October 2024, the accused allegedly conspired with other unknown individuals to break into the residence of Dr. Melvina Thompson, located at #1 Thompson Drive, Congo Cross, in the Western Area of Freetown.
The prosecution further alleges that the accused persons stole a sum of Ten Thousand Six Hundred United States Dollars ($10,600), equivalent to Le 240,017, from the doctor’s home.
When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused.
Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim Mansaray applied for a short adjournment, informing the court that he needed time to properly consult with his witnesses, who were not present during the hearing.
Representing the accused was Mohamed Yassin Conteh Esq., who appeared on their behalf.
Magistrate Jah, citing the serious nature of the offence, denied bail and ordered that all three accused be remanded at the Female and Juvenile Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, July 23, 2025, for further proceedings.
