Freetown, July 22, 2025 — A 25-year-old barber and a 35-year-old contractor appeared before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh of the Pademba Road Court No. 5 on Tuesday, facing allegations of timber theft and possession of stolen goods.
The accused, Ibrahim Kamara (a barber) and Victor Nelson Macauley (a contractor), are charged with two counts: Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and Receiving Stolen Goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the same Act.
According to court documents, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Smith Drive, Leicester Village, in the Mountain Rural District of Freetown, Kamara is alleged to have stolen a quantity of timber and other assorted items valued at Eighteen Thousand Two Hundred Leones (Le 18,200), the property of one John Bangura.
The second count alleges that Macauley, on the same date and location, knowingly received twelve pieces of 2×3 timber, valued at Seven Hundred and Twenty Leones (Le 720), also the property of John Bangura.
When the charges were read and explained in court, Kamara (1st accused) pleaded guilty, while Macauley (2nd accused) pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting the matter, Sergeant 5598 Santigie Koroma requested a short adjournment to lead witnesses for the prosecution in the case against the second accused.
Magistrate Gbloh refused bail for Macauley and remanded Kamara at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, pending sentencing.
The case has been adjourned to Friday, July 25, 2025, for further proceedings.
