Court Orders Subpoena in $5,210 Theft Case

By Mamajah Jalloh

An ongoing alleged theft case involving 30-year-old civil servant Peter Brima was again heard before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, on a one-count charge of larceny in a dwelling house, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused allegedly committed the offence between Saturday, 28th February 2026, and Sunday, 1st March 2026, at No. 9 Charlotte Village, Freetown, where he is said to have stolen the sum of US$5,210 (equivalent to NLe124,000), property of Lovetta Kamara.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

However, proceedings could not continue due to the absence of Prosecution Witness Number Two, who was expected to testify.

The prosecution counsel informed the court that the witness was unavailable, making it impossible to proceed with the hearing.

In response, Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered that a subpoena be issued to compel the attendance of the absent prosecution witness at the next adjourned date.

The defendant was granted continuation of bail pending further hearing. The matter was adjourned to 28th May 2026.
