Freetown, Sierra Leone – A 25-year-old businessman, Foday Sesay, appeared before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 8 on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to answer to charges of larceny involving more than $16,000 USD.

Sesay faces two counts of Larceny Contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, after allegedly stealing significant sums of money from two individuals, one of whom is his cousin.

According to the prosecution, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Freetown Road in Lumley, Sesay allegedly stole $9,500 USD (equivalent to Le 233,700) from Ibrahim Fofanah, and an additional $7,000 USD (equivalent to Le 172,200) from Osman Bah.

When the charges were read and explained to him in court, the accused pleaded not guilty to both counts.

Inspector Aminata Korio, prosecuting on behalf of the state, led Ibrahim Fofanah as the first prosecution witness. Fofanah, who confirmed that the accused is his cousin, began recounting the events of the alleged theft. However, the prosecutor requested a short adjournment to continue the examination on a later date.

Foday Sesay appeared in court without legal representation. Magistrate Samura denied him bail and ordered his remand at the Male Correctional Facility on Pademba Road.

The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, June 17, 2025, for further proceedings.
