Cricket Family Welcomes Senior Women’s Team in Pomp and Pageantry

Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) on Monday welcomed home the Senior Women’s Cricket Team after winning the four-nation BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 Tournament in Gaborone Botswana five days ago.

The reception was spectacular as it brought together hundreds of cricketers and fans. The procession began at Hastings, passing through designated streets of Freetown until its final destination at Kingtom.

Addressing the players, CSL Board Chairman Francis Trevor Samura described the Ladies as heroines. “We are receiving congratulatory messages from different parts of the world. You took the challenge and proved the critics wrong. You trained in the rain and in the sun. Eyes on the ball,” he said.

He went on to speak about the next tournaments the Ladies will participate in and added that the win has inspired young players.

He promised the Ladies a hummy dinner at a later date.

Madam Pamela Williams, a sport personality, said it is timely to pay attention to sporting disciplines that are doing well. ” I was thrilled to form part of the reception. I advise that CSL take the Ladies to the Minister of Sport for onward presentation to President Bio,” she said.
