On Monday, 2 February 2026, Mohamed Moriba, a politician, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 facing a charge of incitement, contrary to law.
According to the police charge sheet, on Saturday, 27 December 2025, at Kamalo Village in Karina District, North-West Province, Moriba allegedly created audio and video clips containing inciting content aimed at causing mayhem, disorder, chaos, and unrest in Sierra Leone. The clips were reportedly posted on a TikTok account operated by Salone Gossip Hub.
When the charge was read, no plea was taken by the defendant.
During proceedings, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, a cyber analyst, testified as the second prosecution witness. His role involved examining and analyzing digital data from electronic devices. He noted that while the three videos did not contain direct instructions to commit violence, they had the potential to spark unrest.
DSP Kamara prepared a transcript of the video analysis, which was admitted as court evidence, marked Exhibit A1–A18. The videos were sourced from social media, specifically TikTok, and obtained from DASP Kabba Lavallie, Supervisor of the Scientific Support Unit, CID Headquarters.
The witness further testified that the defendant had used inciting language against President Julius Maada Bio, though he could not confirm if the TikTok account handlers were personally connected to Moriba.
During cross-examination, the defense highlighted the defendant’s medical condition and requested bail to allow him to seek treatment. The prosecutor, DSP Sorie Conteh, opposed the request, relying on prior affidavits.
Magistrate Fornah denied bail due to the seriousness of the offence and remanded Moriba to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to 5 February 2026 for further proceedings.
