Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, a prominent advocate for youth empowerment and national development, accompanied Sierra Leone’s Minister of Sports, Madam James Teima, on a strategic mission to Doha, Qatar, to explore partnerships to advance sports development in Sierra Leone.
As part of the delegation’s activities, they toured some of Qatar’s premier sports institutions, including the world-renowned ASPIRE Academy, the Qatar Sports Museum, and the iconic Khalifa Stadium. These visits provided valuable insights into how a blend of vision, infrastructure, and investment can shape a thriving sports ecosystem.
Dr. Abdulai expressed admiration for Qatar’s commitment to sports excellence and emphasised the importance of replicating such models back home. “This visit has been nothing short of inspiring,” he noted. “We’ve seen firsthand how sports can be a vehicle for education, national pride, and opportunity. Sierra Leone has the talent — now we need to build the right environment.”
The visit marks a critical step toward building long-term collaborations that can empower young athletes, improve local infrastructure, and promote Sierra Leone as a rising hub for sports development in West Africa.
