Electrician Committed to High Court for Alleged Store Breaking and Larceny in Freetown

By Mamajah Jalloh

On Tuesday, 3 January 2026, Mohamed Mansaray, a 25-year-old electrician, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in an ongoing store breaking and larceny case.

Mansaray faces one count of store breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, at Hill Cut, Western Area, Freetown, Mansaray allegedly broke into the store of Abubakarr Turay with intent to steal, taking four bags of cement, each valued at Le185, for a total of Le740.

When the charge was read, Mansaray did not enter a plea.

Detective Police Constable Brima Kargbo (17649) led the prosecution witnesses, closed the case, and the file was withdrawn for ruling.

After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Jah ruled that sufficient evidence had been presented to warrant committal to the High Court. Mansaray was remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, and bail was refused.
