Footballer, Businessman, and Fisherman Sentenced to Five Years for Larceny in Freetown

On Monday, 2 February 2026, Joseph Bangura, a 33-year-old footballer; Samuel Jallohson, 29, a businessman; and Mohamed Sesay, 27, a fisherman, were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah in a larceny case they had been involved in, having already served the full term of their sentence.

The three were charged on two counts: conspiracy to commit a crime, contrary to the law, and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the police, the offences took place on Wednesday, 14 July 2025, in Murray Town, where the accused, together with other unknown persons, conspired to commit larceny.

The prosecution stated that the trio broke into a Honda CR-V with registration number AWD 825, stealing several items belonging to Gladys Nanilla Kamara. Stolen items included:
• US$3,861 (Le 2,717 equivalent)
• Samsung mobile phone valued at Le1,000
• Power bank valued at US$208 (Le 4,990 equivalent)
• One air phone, a pair of lens glasses, two service passport booklets, a computer bag, and other personal effects

The total value of stolen property was estimated at Le132,724.

After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Jah found all three defendants guilty and sentenced them to five years’ imprisonment, a term which they had already served.
