Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community well-being by successfully conducting a sensitisation campaign on the dangers of Kush across its concessional chiefdoms in Tonkolili District.
The campaign was aimed at educating community members, especially young people, on the devastating effects of Kush, a substance that has increasingly posed serious health and social challenges in communities. Through open discussions and stakeholder engagement, LRMG sought to guide residents on prevention and promote responsible choices among youths.
Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) from the various chiefdoms chaired the sensitisation sessions, representing their respective chiefdoms and ensuring strong community participation. Their leadership helped foster meaningful dialogue between LRMG, health officials, and community members.
A representative from the Health and Safety Environment (HSE) Department addressed participants, explaining the health risks associated with Kush use, including mental health disorders, reduced productivity, and its negative impact on families and community development.
Several stakeholders within the chiefdoms also shared their perspectives, calling on parents, traditional leaders, and youths to unite against drug abuse and protect the future of the younger generation. They further appreciated the company for taking their time to organize this sensitisation campaign.
Speaking through the initiative, LRMG emphasized that the company places high value on the welfare of the youths and the communities in which it operates. The sensitisation campaign forms part of LRMG’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at fostering safe, healthy, and sustainable communities.
By taking proactive steps to address drug abuse, LRMG continues to show that its relationship with host communities goes beyond mining, focusing on human development, social responsibility, and long-term community stability in Tonkolili District.
