Freetown, Sierra Leone – Thirty-seven-year-old Austin Jusu, also known as Hero, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, facing a charge of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, between 30th September and 31st December 2023 in Freetown, Jusu allegedly obtained Le100,000 from Abubakarr Mohamed Jabbie by falsely claiming he would provide PVC windows and doors, knowing that the claim was false.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally, representing the prosecution, served the defendant with the relevant court documents. Jusu was not legally represented at the time of the hearing.

Due to the seriousness of the offence, Magistrate Jah denied bail and remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to 26th January 2026 for further proceedings.
