MAN FACES COURT FOR ALLEGED WOUNDING AND ASSAULT

The ongoing highly alleged assault case of Jacob Julius Renner was again arraigned before Magistrate Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 on Tuesday, 29th July, 2025, on three count charges of wounding and assault, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of offence that you on Friday, 17th January, 2025, at Brookfields in Freetown, Renner allegedly wounded and maliciously assaulted Julius Bangura, causing him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person no plea was taken.

The prosecutor 9939 Lahai M. led in Detective Inspector Alusine Kargbo attached to the Youth Building Police Post revealed that the complainant reported an incident on the same day and was issued a medical request and report form to the victim that was produced and tendered marked as “Exhibit B1–4.”

Alusine furthered that on January 23rd, 2025, he obtained a statement from the complainant and on March 27th,  2025, himself and his colleague, Edna Katta, cautioned and questioned the accused in Krio and he recorded it on English. He noted that he read and explained the statement to accused who confirmed it to be correct and true by affixing his right hand thumbprint. The cautioned statement was produced and tendered marked as “Exhibit D1–2.”

Meanwhile, magistrate Jah refused bail due to the weight of the nature of the offence charged and sent him to the correctional center in freetown.

The has has been adjourned to the July 30th of 2025, for ruling.
