By Mamajah Jalloh

Freetown, Sierra Leone – Ibrahim Kabbia, a 36-year-old man, was on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 after being found guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on May 17, 2025, at Adonkia Goderich in the Western Area of Freetown, Kabbia stole:

  • One roll of 4mm electric cable valued at NLe 4,500,
  • One roll of 2.5mm electric cable valued at NLe 3,500, and
  • One roll of 1.5mm electric cable valued at NLe 1,700,
bringing the total value of stolen items to NLe 9,700. The property belonged to Albert Conteh.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken. The state prosecutor, Sergeant 3379 Ballay T., closed the prosecution’s case and informed the court that the accused was a first-time offender.

Before sentencing, the convict pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.

In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Fornah sentenced Kabbia to 12 months imprisonment or, alternatively, ordered restitution—requiring the convict to pay NLe 9,700 or return the stolen property to the complainant.
