MAN SLAMS TO COURT FOR ALLEGED ROBBERY WITH AGGRAVATION

The highly alleged robbery case of Sahr Lebbie a twenty-eight years old made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 on Monday, 28th July, 2025, on four count charges.

The accused was arraigned for robbery with aggravation, wounding, and assault, contrary to Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to police files, on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Temne Town, Allen Town, Freetown, Lebbie,armed with a knife,allegedly robbed Ansu Sandi of one roll of 2.5mm electrical cable, one roll of 1.5mm electrical cable, and forty yards of 70/4 electric cable, all valued at a total of six thousand Leones. The items were said to be the property of Amara Coker but in the custody of Sandi at the time of the incident.

Counts two, three, and four alleged that you on the same date and at the same location, Lebbie maliciously wounded and assaulted Sandi with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person no plea waa taken.

The accused was not regally represented at that moment.

The prosecution Kadie M. Taylor led in prosecution witness number Ansu Sandi, an office Assistant at the National Revenue Authority (NRA),recognized the accused and recalled on the July 4th, 2025, when he heard strange sounds coming from the uncompleted building where he resides decided to check opon he was attacked and stabbed multiple times by the accused.

Sandi revealed that he tried to restrain the accused but was overwhelmed by pain and called out for help when one neighbo named Foday, came to his rescue and took him to Connaught Hospital. He noted that Foday also used his Infinix mobile phone to take photographs of the injuries, which were later presented marked as Exhibit A, whilst the images marked as Exhibits A1–3.

He furthered that after receiving initial treatment, he and Foday went to Allen Town Police Station, where he was issued a medical form. He took the form to Rokupa Hospital and later returned it to the police. The case was later transferred to the Ross Road Police Station for further investigation.

During cross-examination, the accused denied the accusations and echoed that Sandi was the one who stabbed him first. He added that the complainant called his brother to bring a rope so they could tie him up and throw him into a well, an allegation Sandi strongly denied, stating he was alone at home at the time.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail because of the seriousness of the offence charged and ordered that he remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in freetown.

The case has been adjourned to the 30th of July, 2025, for further proceedings.
