A 31-year-old mason, Santigie Sesay, has been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Court No. 2 in Freetown on Monday, 4th May 2026.

Sesay is charged with one count of larceny in a dwelling house, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused allegedly committed the offence on 7th November 2025 at Upper George Brook, Dwarzark Farm in the Western Area Rural District of Freetown. It is alleged that with intent to steal, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Mariama Bangura and stole one blue Samsung A13 mobile phone valued at Le35,500 and one white Apple iPad, with a total estimated value of Le9,000, property of Mariama Bangura.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, called its first witness, Mariama Bangura, who identified the accused in court. She testified that on 7th November 2025, after returning home in the evening, an incident occurred involving the accused. She further stated that her grandmother instructed her to collect her phone, but she later discovered that the phone was missing.

Following the testimony, the prosecution requested an adjournment to a later date. Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that the accused be remanded. The matter was adjourned to 7th May 2026 for further hearing.
