The Netherlands is stepping up diplomatic efforts across West Africa in a bid to secure the arrest of fugitive drug kingpin Jos Leijdekkers, widely known as “Bolle Jos.” Dutch authorities are engaging neighboring countries of Sierra Leone to raise awareness about the threat posed by the convicted criminal and strengthen regional cooperation.
According to reports, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Justice has expressed interest in holding direct talks with his Dutch counterpart. While the Netherlands says there is a willingness from Sierra Leone to engage in discussions, it believes stronger and more concrete action is needed. The Dutch government is also exploring additional measures, including increased international pressure, to push for Leijdekkers’ extradition.
