PROSECUTION TENDERS EVIDENCE IN ALLEGED CASINO LARCENY CASE

The ongoing alleged larceny case involving Santigie Kamara, a casino clerk, was again brought before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, 13th October 2025. Kamara faces a charge of Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, between April and July 2024, at Golden Beach Casino, Beach Road, Aberdeen, the accused allegedly stole betting chips valued at Le 679,590, property of the casino.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) leading the prosecution called Prosecution Witness Number Five, Kindo Papa Kamara, who testified that he recognized both the complainant and the accused. He recalled that on 12th July 2024, while on duty at GROH 2 Police Station, a larceny case was reported and assigned to him for investigation.

Kindo stated that he, along with the complainant and the accused, visited the scene where the complainant identified the accused through CCTV footage. He added that Detective Police Constable (DPC) 13169 Moifory M. obtained a voluntary caution statement from the accused in Krio, which was recorded in English. The accused acknowledged the statement as true by affixing his right-hand thumbprint, witnessed by DPC 13169 Moifory M, who signed as the recorder. This voluntary caution statement was admitted as Exhibit B1–6.

The complainant also presented a document detailing the stolen chips from April to July 2024, which was marked as Exhibit C1–2. Another voluntary caution statement from the accused, obtained on 14th July 2024, was tendered as Exhibit D1–3. Kindo concluded that the file was later transferred to CID Headquarters for further investigation.

Magistrate Fornah adjourned the case to 21st October 2025 for further hearing.
