Pupil in Court for Alleged Larceny, Malicious Damage

By Mamajah Jalloh

A 25-year-old pupil, Mohamed Koroma, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after being charged with larceny and malicious damage involving stolen electrical cables valued at Thirty-Eight Thousand Leones (NLe 38,000).

Koroma made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, 3rd November, 2025, on two counts of Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and Malicious Damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the charge sheet, on Tuesday, 14th October, 2025, at Dadley Street, Regent, in Freetown, the accused allegedly stole several rolls of electrical cables — including four rolls of 2.5mm cable valued at NLe 14,000, six rolls of 1.5mm cable valued at NLe 15,000, and two rolls of 4mm cable valued at NLe 9,000 — all properties of Patrick Dauda Koroma.

The total value of the stolen items amounted to NLe 38,000.

It was further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the accused maliciously damaged the said cables belonging to the complainant.

When the charges were read and explained, Koroma pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Ballay T requested a short adjournment to enable her to present the first witness. The accused, who was not legally represented, was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Fornah also ordered that a subpoena be served on the absent prosecution witnesses.

The case was adjourned to 10th November, 2025, for further proceedings.
