The Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo held a formal welcome ceremony for the incoming Head of Chancery, Mr. Kai Brima. The event, held at the Embassy’s Conference Hall, was presided over by His Excellency Ambassador Sadiq Silla and attended by embassy staff.
The meeting began with a warm greeting from Ambassador Sadiq Silla, who commended the staff for their unwavering support and exemplary service, particularly during the recent African Women’s Summit Delegation. He expressed gratitude for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain the same level of professionalism and discipline.
In his welcoming address, Ambassador Silla introduced Mr. Kai Brima as the new Counsellor and Head of Chancery, succeeding Mr. Samuel Alie Kargbo, who has served in the role since 2019. Ambassador Silla described Mr. Brima as a seasoned diplomat with over 30 years of service, including 24 years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and postings at two foreign missions. His wealth of experience, the Ambassador noted, is expected to significantly enhance the Embassy’s operations.
Ambassador Silla emphasized the need for a seamless transition and instructed that all official formalities be completed promptly to ensure that Mr. Brima receives his full entitlements. He also directed that both financial and administrative procedures related to the transition be expedited. Furthermore, he encouraged the staff, to continue discharging their duties effectively without altering the existing systems and practices that have ensured the Embassy’s functionality.
Outgoing Head of Chancery, Mr. Samuel Alie Kargbo, took the opportunity to reflect on his tenure, expressing appreciation for the support he received during his time at the Embassy. He welcomed Mr. Brima warmly and advised him to approach the new role with an open mind, assuring him of his continued support.
Mr. Brima, in his response, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and spoke on the importance of cooperation and compliance with established financial systems. Outlining his leadership style, he highlighted productivity and accountability as core principles and called on the staff for their collaboration in achieving institutional goals.
A notable highlight of the meeting was the discussion on modernizing embassy operations, with Ambassador Silla proposing the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He instructed Mr. Mina to prepare a quotation for the implementation of the technology, signaling the Embassy’s commitment to innovation and efficiency.
The transition marks a new chapter for the Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo, with a renewed focus on administrative excellence, staff unity, and technological advancement under the leadership of Mr. Kai Brima and the guidance of Ambassador Sadiq Silla.
