The Speaker of Sierra Leone’s Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, has commended Members of Parliament for their unwavering commitment to serving the people during a recent parliamentary session.
In an impassioned address to the House, Speaker Thomas recognized the active participation and diligence of several MPs, naming them individually and expressing gratitude on behalf of the citizens of Sierra Leone.
“Always in the world to do the work of the people,” he declared, underscoring the vital role Parliament plays in shaping national policies and improving lives. “Let me, on behalf of the citizens of Sierra Leone, thank you for your diligence. Thank you very much.”
Among those acknowledged were Hon. Tamara, Hon. Abdul Kareem Kamara, Hon. Moses Edwin, Hon. Mustafa Salu, Hon. Abdullah Tipsy, Hon. Foyah Tolly, Hon. Abdul Karim Babura, Hon. Ishmael Sanko, Hon. Chroma, Hon. Alex, Hon. Alpha Bar, Hon. B.C. Prince, Hon. PC Bai Sabra, Hon. Lucinda Kelly, Hon. Alfred Thompson, and Hon. Matthew.
Speaker Thomas highlighted that over two-thirds of the parliamentary minutes were completed properly, reflecting strong discipline and adherence to procedure. However, he humorously noted that “except for those at the back,” not all members were fully engaged, eliciting light laughter from the chamber.
This praise arrives amid growing public expectations for Parliament to fulfill legislative promises and accelerate national development. The Speaker’s remarks served as both recognition and a call for greater unity and active participation among lawmakers.
The session concluded on a positive note, with MPs applauding Speaker Thomas for his leadership and commitment to maintaining the integrity of the House.
