FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE — Two drivers, 32-year-old Hassan Kamara and 34-year-old Daniel Karim Jalloh, have been sentenced to five years imprisonment each by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
The convicts were sentenced on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, after pleading guilty to two counts of conspiracy contrary to law and larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the two accused persons, on diverse dates between 1 and 30 June 2026 in Freetown, Western Area, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, namely larceny.
The second count alleged that during the same period and location, the first accused person, with intent to steal, stole 2,040 bags of cement valued at NLe 408,000, belonging to Hamid Hajj Fawaz.
When the charges were read and explained to both accused persons, they pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen Esq, informed the court that both convicts had no previous criminal records and were first-time offenders.
The two convicts, who were not legally represented, pleaded with the court for mercy.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah noted the plea for leniency, the fact that they were first-time offenders, and that they had saved the court’s time by pleading guilty.
He subsequently sentenced both men to five years imprisonment each at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
