Two Remanded Over Conspiracy, Malicious Damage

Two young men have been remanded in custody after making their first appearance before the Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on charges of conspiracy and malicious damage.

The accused are Abdul Rahman Cole, 21, a painter, and Santigie Kanu, 18, a labourer. They appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah on Monday, 15 December 2025.

They are charged with conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and malicious damage contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of offence, on Friday, 5 December 2025, at Murray Town in the western area of Freetown, the two accused allegedly conspired together and with others unknown to commit malicious damage.

The prosecution further alleged that on the same date and place, the accused maliciously damaged assorted boat engine cables and rubber pipes, valued at US$80,000, equivalent to Le 189,600, property of Osman Sow.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa applied for a short adjournment, informing the court that a key prosecution witness was absent.

Magistrate Fornah subsequently remanded both accused persons at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 17 December 2025 for further hearing.
