By Mamajah Jalloh

Freetown – Kadie Kargbo was on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Adama Kandeh of Pademba Road Court No. 4 on two counts of Wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.

According to the charge sheet, the accused on Saturday, 12th July 2025, at George Brook, Dwarzack, in Freetown, allegedly wounded Isatu Sheriff. The second count stated that on the same date and place, Kargbo assaulted Sheriff in a manner that caused her actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read, the accused pleaded not guilty to both counts.

State Prosecutor Sergeant 1306 Sesay A.B. requested a short adjournment to allow proper conferencing with prosecution witnesses.

Defence counsel, H. Conteh, applied for bail on behalf of the accused, arguing that she is an ordinary resident within the jurisdiction and would not interfere with witnesses. His application was made pursuant to Section 79 (2)(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act 1965.

However, Magistrate Kandeh refused bail, citing the nature of the offence, and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 25th August 2025 for further proceedings.
