In the ongoing ‘Win Kopo Promotion’ Africell Mobile Company has on Wednesday 2nd November 2022, handed over the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand leones; equivalent to two hundred and fifty million old leones.
The official handing over ceremony took place at the conference room of Africell’s Headquarters in Freetown.
According to the Chief Corporate Affairs of Africell, Mr. Joe Abass Bangura on behalf of Africell, welcomed the first grand draw winner of the ‘Win Kopo Promotion’.
“Well now after the redenomination of the Leones… our newest “Thousandnaire” … and in hundreds of thousands for that matter – Welcome to Africell,” said Joe Abass, adding that, the ‘Win Kopo’ is a competition that allows Africell prepaid subscribers to collect points upon every recharge for a chance in a daily electronic draw.
Mr. Joe Abass Bangura went on to say that the ‘Win Kopo’ can be played anywhere and anytime, in Sierra Leone, at your own leisure and convenience. He continued by stating that the points Points are calculated from every recharge done by subscribing before midnight.
“The more you recharge, the more chances you have in the daily draw,” said Joe Abass, stating that a daily electronic draw is done to select a lucky winner of NLe 250. He further stated that the second part is the SMS trivia, where questions are posed via SMS to participate, to Dial *4888# or send START to 4888 from the Africell line for NLe 0.80 or 80 cents daily, adding that, winners from the SMS trivia will be announced weekly and monthly and the grand prize winner will be announced every 6 months. Mr. Joe Abass Bangura further mentioned thatsubscriber or participant must have received at least one chance during the week and month leading to the weekly and monthly draws to qualify.He said that a participant also must have received one chance during the monthly draws to qualify for the grand draw.
“A weekly cash prize of NLe 5,000(Le 5,000,000), NLe 25,000(Le 25,000,000) monthly and a grand prize of NLe 250,000(Le 250,000,000) are up for grabs,” he stated, adding that, so far, a total of 222 subscribers have won over Nle 270,000 (Le 270,000,000) with WIN KOPO by simply recharging regularly and participating in the SMS trivia.

The Grand Winner of the ‘Win Kopo promotion, Mr. Mohamed Sesay who identified himself as a driver, thanked the management of Africell Mobile Company for organizing the promotion. When he received the news about the amount of money he won in the promotion, Mr. Sesay told members of the press that he did not take it seriously. Mr. Sesay added that, the next a got a call from the Media Manager of Africell Mobile Company who told him that if he fails to come to the office, the prize will be handed over to another subscriber. He said that later he was accompanied to Africell’s Headquarters to collect the prize.
The Media Manager of Africell Mobile Company, Mr. John Konteh called on Africell’s subscribers to participate in the promotion by simply dial *4888# or send SMS to 4888.
The presentation of the grand prize of the ‘Win Kopo’ promotion climaxed the ceremony.
