The General Manager of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC), Mr. Isaac Ken Green (SLRTC) on Thursday 14th October 2022, at the usual press briefing held at the Ministry of Information and Communications, has appealed to the government of Sierra Leone and development partners to support the operations of SLRTC.
He explained some of their challenges by appealing for the allocation of more land to construct bus stations throughout the country to accommodate the growing number of passengers. He expressed further some of the challenges faced by their bus operators in plying the provinces in relation to securing decent and affordable guest house for passengers. As a result of that, Mr. Green stated that they have secured two acres of land at Masiaka and Moyamba respectively to construct affordable guest house for passengers and their bus operators.
He said they have also bought a land in Bo, Kenema and Kailahun for the construction of guest house. He went further by thanking the Sierra Leone Commercial bank for their contribution towards the transport sector. He said the process for ticket purchase has changed, noting that, people that want to travel can now book their ticket while at home through their mobile phones. He said some of their challenges is in the private sector driver who always make attempt to kidnap their passengers. Other constraint, he said is the unavailability of spare parts in the provinces.
