The leading telecommunication operator, Africell Mobile Company has on Wednesday 9th November 2022, has officially launched ‘the Freetown Africell Marathon’ which is an initiative of the Africell Impact Foundation under the health pillar which is designed to promote healthy lifestyle, well-being and sports.
According to the Managing Director of Africell Mobile Company, Mr. Shadi Gerjawi on the occasion of the launching of the Africell Freetown Marathon declares that it gives him the distinguish honor and privilege to officially launch the Freetown Africell Marathon. Mr. Shadi Gerjawi also thanked their team who have been working tirelessly round the clock to in support of the Africell Freetown Marathon.
“The Freetown Africell Marathon is an initiative by the Africell Impact Foundation under the health pillar which is designed to promote healthy lifestyle, well-being and sports,” the Managing Director of Africell affirms, adding that, as a company through their Cooperative Social Responsibility have supported several health and sports initiatives. The marathon, he said will show how committed they are in supporting healthy living and connecting with their subscribers. He further stated that they are hosting the biggest Freetown Marathon, adding that, they have to match their size and capacity as the biggest telecommunications company in the country.
“And you know we don’t like doing small things,” he stressed. He thanked the team from Street Child for bringing their expertise on board to power the organization of the Marathon. He added by stating that, they cherish their partnership and will continue to support their yearly Street child Marathon. He continued by stating that the Freetown Africell Marathon is open to all including the young and old, professional and amateur, boys and girls, men and woman.
On his part, the President and Owner of Africell Mobile Company, Mr. Ziad Dalloul affirms the commitment of Africell in support of the developmental strides of the country. He describes the Freetown Africell Marathon as a laudable venture in support of the health sector of the country. He thanked the team lead of the Marathon for the initiative and wish them well in the full implementation of the Freetown Africell Marathon initiative.
The Freetown Africell Marathon is expected to commence on Sunday 4th December 2022.
The Director General of NATCOM, representative from Street Child, Ministry of Sports and the Sierra Leone Red Cross were in attendance.
