Sierra Leone’s premier Sports Betting and Lottery Company, Mercury International, has placed a Five Thousand United Dollars (US$ 5,000) sponsorship package, and seven (7) female Entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Limkokwing University (Hillstation) in Freetown for a chance to win the said amount as Seed Capital.
Organized by Innovation Sierra Leone in collaboration with Mercury International, the Fempreneur Pitch Night will see Nippy Bah, Lydia Bernard-Jones, Kumba Emily Fanday, Panashe Chikhata, Mariama Bah, Hawanatu Sesay and Fatmata Kargbo all pitch their Ideas on the night with the winner taking home US$5,000.
Mercury International Managing Director Martin Michael is excited to see female entrepreneurs showing up with their business ideas and hopes the event on Wednesday will be great.
“This is a great idea, and we are happy to support such a move. This is happening, and promises to be a great event,” the Mercury International MD said. He also added that Wednesday’s event will be the first out of five others, which will include; three mixed categories (male and female) ‘Meet the Pitchers’ night.
“Freetown Pitch Night was created, to highlight the work entrepreneurs are doing in the country while helping to foster collaboration towards building a strong and sustainable entrepreneur ecosystem in Sierra Leone,” said Jason Eaves, SOBA’s Business Innovation Hub Senior Lead.
Freetown Pitch Night is a monthly event that gives budding entrepreneurs a platform to pitch their post-revenue business to a vibrant entrepreneur community while connecting them with the mentors, advisors, leaders, and experts they need to grow their businesses.
At Freetown Pitch Night, entrepreneurs can market their businesses and also solicit feedback and foster potential partnerships.
