On Sunday 23rd January 2022, in Kolleh Town off Ascension Town Road, fire incident has rendered thousands of poor families’, mostly fishermen, Bike Riders and petty traders’ homeless and their properties destroyed.
At the moment, thousands of families in Kolleh town already live in desperate conditions as they lost everything they had, including their makeshift shelters, their clothes, food they had in stock, money and other valuable properties are all gone.
An eye witness Mr. Abubakar Conteh, said that the Fire incident took place at around 1-2 am in the morning hours and by the time the national Fire Force got to the scene their properties had been destroyed. Mr. Conteh said that close to 200 hundred houses were burnt down at the Kolleh Town Community. Mr. Abubakar Conteh also disclosed that his 15 million Leones was destroyed by the inferno.
