Afrimoney Supports Susan’s Bay Fire Victims with Le 400M

In a bid to mitigate the suffering of the fire victims at Susan’s Bay Community, in the Central part of Freetown, Afrimoney has on Tuesday 30th March 2021 donated the sum of four hundred million leones(Le 400,000,000) to all registered victims of the fire accident. It is expected that the money should be used judiciously in support of one thousand five hundred and ninety seven (1,597) households at Susan’s Bay community.

The Head of Afrimoney based in Sierra Leone, Madam Massa Mayson-Dennis describes the fire incident as pathetic, adding that Afrimoney as a company has felt their pains and therefore has decided to give their own support to them. When quantified, she said that the fire accident have had an incalculable lost to victims and by extension to the entire nation. She added that women, children, the aged and the youth are mostly affected.

She went on to say that as part of their contribution, the AfriMoney will donate the sum of four hundred million leones that will be shared among them. She adds that each of them will be given a mobile phone with a registered AfriMoney Sim Card, through which she said that their money will be sent to them. She emphasized that all those who are registered will benefit from the donation, adding that they will not leave anyone behind as they will go strictly by the list provided to them. “The money will be sent to all the fire victims through their Afrimoney account,” she said, adding that those that are not Afrimoney users, they will register them and provide the money into their Afrimoney account.

She said that the process will be championed by the National Response Team at Susan’s Bay, which she said, includes: the Office of National Security (ONS), Sierra Leone Police, the Community Chief and other stakeholders. She assures that the management of AfriMoney will monitor the process to ensure that it is transparent, free and fair, adding, their main focus is for those that are affected to benefit from the donation. On behalf of the victims at Susan Bay Community, Chief Alhaji Alimamy Koroma thanked the management of AfriMoney for the kind gesture.

He describes the donation as remarkable, adding that AfriMoney has demonstrated to the whole world that they are not only a company but a philanthropist with a heart of gold. He went on to say that AfriMoney cannot be detached from Africell Mobile Company which have had an indelible success in Sierra Leone. He said that he has been an admirer of Africell Mobile Company for their humanitarian support in Sierra Leone, adding that since he was crowned as chief of the Susan’s Bay Community Africell Mobile Company has been one of the institutions that has supported most of the developmental activities in their community.

He said that the donation will help to wipe away the tears of the victims, adding that the fire victims’ lost properties worth millions of leones. He added that what AfriMoney has given to them will not solve all of their problems but would help them to start up their lives again. He applauded AfriMoney for the kind gesture and thanking them for creating a transparent process that creates no room for fraud. He assures that he will monitor the process to ensure that his people who are the main beneficiaries benefit from it. One of the fire victims, Mabinty Kargbo in joyous mood thanked the management of AfriMoney for coming to their aid, adding that no amount of money can solve all of their problems but what have been provided to them by the management of AfriMoney will go a long way in catering for their future needs.

She disclosed that they need to start afresh, adding that the money will go a long way in helping them to start up their businesses. She went on to say that AfriMoney has demonstrated to them that they care for them and she described the donation as timely and very important. She concluded by calling on other institutions to follow the good steps of AfriMoney and creates a space that will help them to start all over again.
