MBSSE MINISTER WARNS JSS & SSS PRINCIPALS

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, Dr. David Sengeh has warned Principals of Junior and Senior Secondary Schools to desist from admitting Pupils who failed NPSE and BECE Examination.

He added that this act has the proclivity to hinder the human capital development of the country.

The Minister made this warning at the Ministry Conference room during the weekly government press briefing. Dr. Sengeh went on to say that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education will not only conduct a nationwide revivification excise but will also ensure that all candidates of the upcoming BECE and WASSCE Examinations will have their previous result attached in their application forms.

Out of the precinct of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Alex Johnson an educationist and a resident of No. 23 Havelock Street, off Mountain cut has expressed doubt over the warning made by the Minister. He said that this practice has been going on for many years without appropriate action been taken and this has affected a lot of Pupils who sometimes dropout out of School.

Madam Mabinty Koroma of Global Youth Network situated at 68 Bai Bureh Road commended the Minister for his proclamation and urged him to enforce it to the latter. She blamed parents for not monitoring the performance of the children. She added that every serious parents must ensure that their children take their school work seriously.

In contrary Pan Africanist Sulaiman Sontos Kamara of Civil Society Fame believes that Teachers too can contribute to say no to bribe, at least to keep integrity to their profession.
