Sierra Leone delegation to the African Climate Summit headed by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change shines in Kenya.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change Jiwoh Emmanuel Abdulai has on 3rd September, 2023 joined Ministers from People’s Republic of Malawi and Liberia to discuss Climate and health theme at the margins of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The panel discussion focused on building strong collaboration for climate and health resilience across the respective countries.

Minister Abdulai highlighted Sierra Leone’s efforts in integrating the health sector into the nation’s climate actions as provided for in Sierra Leone’s National Adaptation Plan(NAP).

At the concluding stage of the session, Minister Abdulai also engaged in other fruitful discussions with heads of Donor Organisations from Rockefeller Foundation( Africa Region office), Wellcome Trust Foundation and Strategic Philanthropy and Private Sector Engagement Foundation respectively.

From the meetings, it’s hopeful that Sierra Leone will benefit from climate action supports from these organsations geared towards the implementation of the country’s climate strategies captured in the (NAP) and the Nationally Determined Contribution( NDC), an ambitious blue print aimed at reducing Green House Gas (GHGs) Emission to 1.5 degree celcious, below industrial level.
