SLRSA Intensifies Training Of Public Sector Drivers

The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, on Tuesday 20th April 2021, concluded intensive training for drivers of the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), at the company’s headquarters, kingtom. The training which benefited all the drivers of the company, covered both theory and practical driving skills. With the objective to enhance the driving skills of the beneficiaries for better service delivery.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, the Director Generation of EGTC, Mr Milton Gegbai welcomed the collaboration between EGTC and SLRSA and assured of his full support for a successful training. He lamented over the conduct of some of the company’s drivers over the years, but expressed the hope that with the new training there would be improvement in their conduct. The EGTC Director General encouraged the drivers to treat the training with seriousness as it would help them in their profession.

The head trainer, Mr. Francis Morovia, disclosed that refresher training for drivers was very important as it would help them to understand emerging issues in the profession. The training addressed ethics in driving, the language of the road etc.The Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), is one of the agencies under the ministry of energy. The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority was mandated by law to develop, regulate and coordinate the affairs of the Road Transport sector in Sierra Leone.

The Authority has organized series of training for public sector drivers and non governmental agencies since 2020 when Mr. Ibrahim Sannoh took over as Executive Director. Another training package would soon commence for commercial vehicle drivers.
